Working Equitation Winter Clinic Series

January 17, February 21 and March 14 (Weather Permitting)

Clinic Focus:

This 1-day clinic is designed to introduce riders to the Working Equitation . Each rider will have a dressage lesson in the morning, followed by a semi-private lesson on the Ease of Handling in the afternoon. Each lesson will be tailored to the rider’s level and riders are encouraged to bring their questions or requests for what they’d like to work on.

This clinic will be taught according to the 2026 WECan Rules. All riders are requested to help with course set up and take down.

Introduction to Working Equitation Obstacles Clinic

Hosted by Alberta Friesian Horse Association, Lacombe, AB

January 31, 2026

Clinic Focus:

This 1-day clinic will be hosted by the Alberta Friesian Horse Association at Muilwijk Friesians near Lacombe.

The focus of the clinic is to provide riders with an introduction to the Working Equitation Obstacles. Participants will be provided with a general overview of the sport of Working Equitation and instruction on how to execute each obstacle safely according to the WECan 2025 Rules.

Clinic Format:

There will be morning and afternoon sessions. Riders are asked to bring their horses into the arena, saddled and haltered or bridled, to introduce horses to each obstacle in hand. Each session will begin with an unmounted course walk with verbal instruction on how to execute each obstacle safely, while a volunteer participant provides a ridden demonstration.

Once the course walk is completed, riders will mount and practice riding the obstacles. Pam will provide additional instruction and assistance from the ground where needed. At the end of each session, riders will have a chance to ride the entire obstacle course in sequence.

Auditors are welcome to participate in the course walk and stay to watch the riding sessions at no cost.

Working Equitation Dressage and Obstacles

Clinic Focus:

This 1-day clinic is designed to provide riders with feedback on the dressage tests and obstacles required for their chosen level of competition. This clinic will be taught according to the 2026 WECan Rules.

Clinic Format:

Riders will be divided into small groups (2 – 3 riders) for mounted lessonsClinic size will be limited to 8 – 9 riders to provide as much personal attention as possible.

Pam will provide instruction on how to execute the working equitation obstacles and dressage tests as appropriate for each rider’s chosen competition level. Riders will be provided with information to help support them if/when they choose to enter a working equitation competition.

Virtual Working Equitation Show - Dressage and Ease of Handling Phases

Hosted by Southern Mantioba Working Equitation, WECan Chapter, Online

June 1 - June 30, 2026

This virtual show is being organized by the Southern Manitoba WECan Chapter (SMWE) and runs from June 1 - June 30, 2026. This show will be offering dressage and Ease of Handling (EOH) phases (no Speed phase) and is open to all levels of riders!

Riders will submit videos of tests and/or courses for judging. Each test will be marked as if it was a live show. Completed scoresheets, including the Judge’s comments will be returned to each rider along with their placing in the class.

2 Ways to Play!

SMWE will be setting up the dressage arena and EOH course at a rented facility on May 30 for those interested in joining them to ride their tests for the virtual show OR set up the dressage arena and EOH course at home and submit your videos to the chapter for entry into the show.

Excellent opportunity to prepare for live shows, improve your skills & level up without the stress of a live show.

Introduction to Working Equitation Obstacles Clinic

May 30 - 31, 2026

This 2 Day clinic is to provide riders with an introduction to the Working Equitation Obstacles. Participants will be provided with a general overview of the sport of Working Equitation and instruction on how to execute each obstacle safely according to the WECan 2026 Rules.

Clinic Format:

Parcitipants will be divided into small groups based on similar riding ability and will ride in one of .3 2-hour riding sessions. Each session will start with an unmounted course walk with verbal instruction on how to execute each obstacle safely, followed by mounted practice riding the obstacles. Pam will provide additional instruction and assistance from the ground. At the end of each session, riders will have a chance to ride the entire obstacle course in sequence.

The obstacles and course maps will vary between Day 1 and Day 2 to expose riders to as many working equitation obstacles as possible and allow riders to experience different courses.

Pam Vust Equestrian - Introduction to Working Equitation Obstacles Clinic

THIS CLINIC IS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!

Whether you are brand new to working equitation or looking for guidance to refine your obstacle skills this 1-day working equitation obstacle clinic is for you!

Riders will be divided into small groups (maximum of 6 riders) and participate in one of three 2-hour riding sessions. Efforts will be made to group riders with similar riding ability and/or working equitation experience, if possible.

Each riding session will include:

  • An unmounted course walk where Pam will explain and answer questions about obstacle requirements, execution, and training strategies.

  • Time to ride the obstacles while receiving coaching and assistance from the ground.

  • Opportunity to ride a practice Ease of Handling (EOH) course.

AUDITING IS FREE! Riders and auditors are invited to watch other rider sessions and are welcome to join in all the course walks to learn about Working Equitation.

Rider Fee: $250 - Includes a day stall with 2 bags of shavings, automatic waterers, and rubber mats.

This clinic will be taught according to the 2026 WECan Rules. All riders must provide a current AEF membership number for insurance purposes.

Equestrian 55+ Games: Presented by Purina

Pam will be judging the Working Equitation Obstacles for the Manitoba 55+ Equestrian Games at Birds Hill Park, near Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 10, 2026.

Private Clinic - How to Earn Higher Points in Working Equitation Competitions

Clinic Focus:

This 1-day clinic is designed to provide riders with feedback on the dressage tests and obstacles required for their chosen level of competition. Riders should have some Working Equitation Competition experience to participate in this clinic.

This clinic will be taught according to the 2026 WECan Rules. All riders are expected to help with course set up and take down.

Clinic Format:

In the morning session, each rider will complete their dressage test and be judged as if in a competition. Then Pam will review her comments and marks with each individual and offer specific advice on how each rider could improve their scores. The same format will be followed for an Ease of Handling course in the afternoon. Riders will have the opportunity to learn from each other and ask questions throughout the day.
